The art I previously posted below is finished, and I'm having a great time making products for my TunaBaby store from it. This is a perfect party invite for your little flower fairy. Completely customizable. I'm onto Holiday art after the piece on my drawing table is completed. Click on the picture to see the full invitation. The backside is a different layout from the front. Thanks so much for popping by!

I absolutely love decorating the shipping box of a painting before it goes to its new owner. I'm just so grateful for the purchase that the package should be announced in a special way. And maybe, just maybe, the shipping company will handle it with special care when they see it. Or maybe they'll dislike the illustration and really throw it around! lol! I just can't let a plain, huge, white box ship without saying something on it. It's just another canvas to me. This one is on its way to Florida and it's the Amphitrite painting. Click on the box to see the painting framed where it's available as a print from my Redbubble site. It's not even Easter, yet this is one of my best selling tees right now in my Zazzle store. I guess it could really be worn year round with those adorable lab puppies in the bike baskets with flowers, and that cute little stylized female steering the bike. Available in many colors and styles. Click on the tee for more info. Most of the time, I draw the face first so I know who is in the painting that helps me to know where to take the finished piece as far as color and look. I was thinking about purple birthday wishes that lead to this visual. Maybe it should have been a purple flower, but a yellow one won out. I always love to see how other artists work. I find it a never ending fascination. I didn't show it here, but I always start out sketching lightly what's in my head in pencil. I very rarely use reference and I don't trace anything, unless it's something that I designed and I want to go onto a light box to change a few things. I still work in a very traditional way, even though I do know how to do many things in Photoshop. I truly love the look of hand drawn art colored with traditional mediums. Here, I'm working in Copic markers along with colored pencils , watercolor and gouache for the background. It still needs to be tweaked and cleaned in PS, but this will give you an idea of where I'm going with it. I've outlined the flower and fairy in pen, so to make it easier for me to separate it from the background allowing for other uses for the art. For art licensing, it gives you the freedom to design variations from the main illustration. Cuddle up with a sea goddess tonight. My dramatic "Amphitrite" pillow is on Zazzle where you can customize the back with a special message for your favorite goddess. Click on the pillow to see product details.
I have to admit, I have a thing for pillows. Even better when I can see my designs come to life on them. I love Labs and thought I had rescued one from a shelter ten years ago when our dog was only two months old. When I brought her to the vet for her first check-up, he let me know, to my surprise, that we had an Ibezan Hound, not a Lab. Well, she turned out to be a Lab-Ibezan mix. And when those ears of hers stood up like bat wings at around 4 months of age, I knew for sure she wasn't a Lab. We're talking huge ears! So granted, she wasn't the Lab we wanted, but we fell in love with her. She's such a part of the family that I can't imagine our life without her. Oh, and click on the pillow. It will take you to my store. And you can also see the other products, too, while you're there. Thanks for visiting! I love other artist's works in progress. I hope you feel the same as I do. Granted, I'm in my cute mode for my stores for Easter, but I will get onto some more "serious" art soon. I really love doing both. Here's what I had the chance to do today. This is a really detailed piece that really should have been done on smoother paper. Paper really dictates how the final art will look, along with your quality of chosen medium ( s ). After the creation of the art, cleaning and adjusting in Photoshop, the art is ready to upload the the stores I have on the net. The fun one is Zazzle, even though there are many artists that frown upon net stores like that. I actually do pretty well on that site and find it rewarding to see the art on a myriad of products. Zazzle keeps adding to the product line which makes it that much more time consuming to create. I'm not one to use their "Quick Create" button that places the design on a hundred products. I carefully fit my art on products I feel the art looks best on. Quality is definitely better than a bunch of products with ill-fitting art. Click on the picture to see the new products that I've been creating with this design. Thanks for looking! My dog loving friend's birthday was yesterday, so I quickly sketched this as an email card for her. I'm showing it here as a work in progress, but the final art is now completed. I'll finish it up in Photoshop and put it on my online stores. Links to the finished work to come. This has inspired me to do more art in the same theme. See you back here soon! Thanks for popping by. Always appreciated! It's getting wild over at Zazzle with some new, fun, products to design on. My adorable cupid kitties and stylized girl with flowers and hearts are a sweet celebration of Valentine's Day. The nice thing is that the buyer can customize the product with a name making it the perfect gift for Valentine's Day that will send a message of love throughout the year. Hugs and kisses to you all. Thanks so much for popping by! Click on either the pillow or card to be taken to my Zazzle store where more products with this art on it can be found. |
